The Langtang and Gosaikunda Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Langtang National Park region of Nepal. Located in the north-central part of the country, close to Kathmandu, this trek offers a remarkable blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and high-altitude adventure.
During the journey, trekkers experience dramatic deep gorges, rugged Himalayan landscapes, dense pine and rhododendron forests, yak grazing pastures, and crystal-clear rivers. The trail also provides fascinating insight into Buddhist traditions, ancient monasteries, traditional Tamang villages, terraced hillside farms, and serene mountain valleys, all set against the backdrop of stunning glaciers and snow-capped peaks. A major highlight of the trek is the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), an alpine freshwater lake revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.
The adventure begins with a scenic drive along the Trishuli River, heading north from Kathmandu through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche before reaching Syabrubesi. From here, the trek officially starts in Syabrubesi, a beautiful Tamang village situated on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. The trail then follows the Langtang River, leading through lush forests and river valleys to Lama Hotel, where the first overnight stop is made.
