The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most famous and sought-after trekking adventures in the Himalayas. Overview
The region is renowned for its breathtaking mountain scenery, featuring four of the world’s six highest peaks: Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Along the trail, trekkers experience the rich culture and traditions of the legendary Sherpa people, known globally for their mountaineering skills, resilience, and warm hospitality.
The route passes through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to diverse Himalayan flora and fauna. Trekkers encounter ancient Buddhist monasteries, stone stupas, prayer flags, and intricately carved mani walls, offering a deep insight into the spiritual life of the mountains.
A highlight of the trek is reaching Kala Patthar at 5,550 meters, which offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks such as Nuptse, Lhotse, Changtse, and the Khumbu Glacier.
The trek usually begins and ends in Lukla. From there, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, passing through forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages inside Sagarmatha National Park en route to Namche Bazaar—the vibrant hub of the Everest region and an important acclimatization stop. After a rest day in Namche, the journey continues toward Tengboche, where the landscape becomes even more dramatic and spiritually enriching.
